What did Gthing Learn at the 2015 New Year's Resolutions Tournament held by the NJ Sparks
We learned that Girl's go has hard as Boy's.
There where 49 teams from 8 different states, 17 division 1 colleges and loads of talent.
Some of the seniors came to the tournament red hot especially Kat Phipps the St. Rose Sr. point guard who scored a tournament record of 42 points.

Kat Phipps, St.Rose HS, 2015

Here is a list of other notables seniors.

Erin Storck -"2015" (Long Island Lutheran HS,NY) (MVP) - Erin had a good shooting night, the combo guard will be taking that to Sacred Heart University next season. She is a all around good player who see's the floor very well and Erin knows where she is suppose to be when on the floor. Lets see if the Lady Crusaders will be able to fill the void when she is gone.

Samantha Fuehring -"2015" (Immaculate Conception HS,NJ) (MVP) - The Louisville bound wing or guard can do it all. She is a true baller and should do fine at the next level. When Gthing was able to talk to her I ask Sam why South Carolina she said the they make you feel at home there and that her old New,Jersey Sparks Teammate Myisha Hines-Allen was definitely a big influence.

Re'Jean Martin -"2015" (Potter House HS,FL) (MVP) - The unsigned Senior guard showed some of the college Scouts that she was D1 material. Coach has her playing good basketball right now, Martin is a scrappy player who loves to play up tempo on both sides of the ball, Re'Jean compensates her height with playing aggressively on offense and defensive.

Kyirah English -"2015" (East Orange Campus HS,NJ) (MVP) - The scoring guard is what she is and what she does. English was droppin in buckets at the NYR 2015 this past weekend English lead her team with a game high of (19) Pt's scoring 11 of those in the first half. She is tremendous defender, English has already committed to Bucknell University with her in a few more good recruits Bucknell and English should be on the map if you ask me.

De'Nisha Swain -"2015" (Potter House HS,FL)(MVP) - Another one of Potter House (FL) unsigned point guards put in work with (24)Pt's in Potter House last game in New,Jersey. Swain plays very hard, she has a nice shot in can knock down the mid-range shot. likes to play fast, De'Nisha may have to work on creating her own shot if she is planning on going to the next level.

GTHING'S ONE ON ONE INTERVIEW, WITH THE NEW KID ON THE BLOCK CIANI HOWARD.

Ciani Howard (Class of 2020)

Gthing: So when was it the first time if you can remember, that you pick up a basketball?

Ciani: The first time I can remember picking up a basketball, I was in the fourth grade, but I didn't take the sport serious at the time.

Gthing: When did you realize that basketball was the sport that you wanted to be committed to of playing?

Ciani: In the fifth grade I realized that basketball was my sport. Just one day I said that I'm going to play basketball, from then on I stuck with it.

Gthing: When did you realize how good you was at playing basketball?

Ciani: I know I was good in basketball in this one game that I was playing in at Pennsylvania ave school in Atlantic City,NJ. There was 40 seconds left on the clock and I was able to shoot three consecutive three pointers. But, we still lost and at that time I realize I was able to play during those times.

Gthing: Did you ever play basketball with the boys, and if so did you like it, and what is the difference between playing with the girls and boys?

Ciani: To me playing basketball with boys is better, because it teaches me to be more aggressive. The difference from playing basketball with boys then girls is that boys will play the same, and be aggressive for trying to win the game, so do girls, but its just different if you ask me.

Gthing: What songs get you pumped before a game?

Ciani: Two songs that gets me hype before a game is "IDFWY" by Big Sean and "Trap Queen" by Fetty Wap.

Gthing: Who is your favorite athlete and why?

Ciani: My favorite athlete is Maya Moore, she plays for the Minnesota Lynx in the WNBA. She is my favorite athlete because everything she does is done with confidence and being aggressive. for example, In many games when she cant get into the flow of things she still shoots the ball until she starts dropping them.

HERE IS A BRIEF SUMMARY OF JAMES BIO FROM HER LONG TIME COACH REGGIE HATCHETT.

Skylar said now she has the opportunity to be on a bigger stage since the Vikings play in the bigger group, which is Group 4 in Mainland is Group 3 Glass stated that she is ready for the challenge. When Gthingbasketball saw her at Spooky Nock this past summer we notice that she has good ball handling skills and loves to play uptempo using her speed in strength to get to the rack, so when the season starts check back with us in we will let you know how she is doing in the big Group 4 now.

WHILE GTHINGBASKETBALL WAS IN ATLANTA,GA WE STOP PAST ST.FRANCIS HIGH SCHOOL TO CHECK OUT SOME OF THE AREA'S TOP PLAYERS TO REALLY FIND OUT WHAT ALL THE HYPE WAS ABOUT IN THE DIRTY SOUTH.

Kasiyahna Kushkituahk (Class of 2017)

The 6'4 sophomore is going to be a star at the next level, she might be one of the best player across the state to play with her back to the basket. Still growing, she doesn't look like the athlete type, but Kasiyahna is that. Very aggressive, the St. Francis Super Sophomore has tons of offers starting with South Carolina, Louisville, Virginia etc.

Abby Grant - "2015" This sharp shooter has already committed to Syracuse, she done that as a sophomore which most young athlete's are scared to do since they are trying to get a feel for things to see what the the next level will be like, but not grant she told Gthing that when she went to visit the school her mind was set. Abby will help the "Big Orange" in there outside shooting game which they haven't had in a long time.

Nichel Tampa - "2017" The speedster of the bunch should provided some help at scoring from the outside to help Grant spread the floor. Tampa who sees the floor well can score with ease because of her quickness she has the ability to be able to do big things once she realizes the talent that she has. Tampa is flying just a little low under the radar right now, but she says that this season should be a breakout one for her.

Taja Cummings - "2017" The leader and the floor general of the team, Cummings who is on ESPN'S Girl's Top 100 watch list said she cant wait till the season jumps off so she can do her thing. Gthing didn't know that was her when we walked in the gym, because of all the talk we thought Taja was a big guard, but when we  asked her about her size her coach step in and said Cummings just plays bigger then she looks, the point guard is nursing her leg right now but should be back with St. Francis for the season opener.

Also for this year St. Francis has two Volleyball stars on the team, Yasmeen Ratliff who is a 6'4 junior and 6'3 Alexis Ratliff who is a freshman, both sister's provide them with some size and height, they are the daughters of Ex-NBA star Theo Ratliff so you they are still growing. The Lady Knight's also have sophomore Maya Dodson who is 6'0 and very athletic and one point in practices she stop in grab the rim with two hands off the vertical. In there is freshman Jayla Jordan who is 5"11 in athletic also, she has good ball handling skills and can 1 thru 3 position.

Master Your Craft told us about Jahsyni, he said she was solid in that we need to stick around before heading back to New Jersey in watch the young stud play. After watching the first half, we were all convince that the baller could handle her own in the Big Apple. JERSEY SHORE ELITE (JSE) AAU TRYOUTS.

Jersey Shore Elite (JSE) AAU Basketball Organization
is excited to add High School age teams to its program beginning in the spring of 2015!

Workouts are at St. John Vianney High School: 540-A Line Rd, Holmdel, NJ 07733
Tuesday Oct 7 6:30-8:30pm
Saturday Oct 11 2-4pm \

Please bring water, a basketball and wear a shirt or reversible that has your name on it. If you do not have one, please wear a shirt that has a number on it.

We are extremely excited to be joining the Jersey Shore Elite AAU Organization and establishing their high school programs.
These programs are intended for those girls that aspire to play at the D1 college level. We look forward to adding to the list of 23 D1 scholarship players that we have coached over the last 5 years (schools include Villanova, Colgate, UPenn, American, Lehigh, Fordham, St Francis NY and many others).

Our coaching staff is very experienced and very well respected by the college coaching community which is a vital element in the recruiting process. We will play the best competitions in the country, and that will likely include trips to Richmond, Va, Chicago IL and Washington DC among other destinations.

We stress TEAM BASKETBALL. We will not be the most athletic or flashiest team in a tournament, but we will out work, out hustle and out smart our opponents. We have witnessed the benefits that TEAM BASKETBALL brings in many pressure situations over the years; that TEAM component is what takes us successfully through the peaks and valleys of badly refereed, overly physical, emotionally draining contests that are inevitably a part of every high level AAU season.

Expect to be challenged as we strive to improve both your skills and your mental toughness on the court both in practices and in the games. Expect to contribute to the development of your teammates as well. And, finally, expect to to have fun, and to find that contentedness that results from knowing you gave 110% of yourself to the process. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any thoughts or concerns.
Thank you so much. :) Let's do this!!

PLAYING ON THE BIG STAGE NOW WILL LAUREN McBRIDE BE ABLE TO HANDLE THE FAME.

LAUREN McBRIDE (CLASS OF 2016)

To big for the small school, at 6'0 feet tall Lauren McBride finally realized that sometimes playing for a small school doesn't always workout as plan. She was attending South Hunderton High School which enrolls 350 student a year, they had a graduating class of 54 students for 2014. Lauren was the star of her team the last two years, as a freshman she nearly average a double double, McBride's breakout game was when her team played Point Pleasant Beach in the first round of the 2013 playoffs where she scored 26 points in had 15 rebounds and Gthing was there to witness it, her team lost because they couldn't contain Marina Mabrey and Katelynn Flatery. But now as a junior McBride decide to take her talent else where, which is Gill St. Bernard who is a big name school from North Jersey and who has put out tremendous talent over the years. So now that the McBride's pack up from Central Jersey in went up to Northern New,Jersey let see if the big fish can swim along with the other big fish in the same pond.

LIFE CENTER ACADEMY WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE THERE NEW GIRL'S BASKETBALL COACH HILTON CLARKE.

HILTON CLARKE

Life Center Academy in Burlington, NJ has a new girls' basketball coach Hilton Clarke, Clarke is taking over the job left from Ron Kessler who resigned right before school had started. Hilton was a assistant last year for the team, he said that he would be running the same type of offense for his program that Kessler ran, but this year he said that they would be playing a lot of man to man on defense and that they would be pressing and trapping teams on the defensive side of the ball. Hilton said that he needs his senior Aaliyah Junne
to be the leader that he knows she could be, he go's on to say that he knows that she can score 30 points a game but he would rather have her average about 15 10 and 10 in a game because that would make her a overall better player. Also back from injury is senior center Theresa

Ekhelar who he says needs to stay healthy enough to play a full season, the Ohio St. commitment  was injured all of last year and now she one of the lone seniors and post player that they have. Ekhelar said that boys head basketball coach and former LA Laker in Louisville super star Pervis Ellisons has been helping her with her post moves that she really needs to work on for the next level. Theresa said that if all go's well this year at the Life Center she should be able to get some minutes for the Buckeyes. The Life
Center also brought in two new recruits from New Zealand 6'1 Sophomore Tera Reed who is a wing player who is very athletic she has very long arms an can run the floor exceptionally well, well enough to play the 1 Thur 4 spots. Tera is thin but with her athleticism she should be able to help Junne and Ekhelar out around the perimeter.

Michelle Perentini who too  is from New, Zealand is a 5'10  Junior guard who is very strong, watching her during practices she should bring a mean streak to the Life Center Girls basketball team, she's very aggressive on offense in on defense, Perentini is going to be a nightmare match up at the guard position since she is so strong getting rebounds and alot of put backs around the glass.
