MALCOLM X SHABAZZ BRINGS HOME TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS TROPHY IN TRENTON,NJ.

De Aisha Jones shoots over two defenders

Shabazz displayed why they are rank # 10 in the country, they put on a show and there two big's played great basketball. Going into the game everyone was wondering who big's would prevail, Shabazz came out fast with Jones hitting a three to begin the game. Malcolm X came out with there smothering defense that they play, but Rancocas Valley recover fast, the Devils had good moments from there star player Lauren Moses who finish with 22 Pt's. But the Bulldogs where to much for the Devils down the sterch of the game. De'Aisha Jones 20-7, Zaire O'Neil's 16-10, and Naqaiyyah Teague 19-3 made this one of Shabazz's best seasons ever.

LAUREN McBRIDE
Lauren Mcbride ( South Hunterdon Regional HS, NJ )

This 5'10 diamond in the ruff was spotted when her team was playing against Point Pleasant Beach of New Jersey, in a Quarterfinal game. She was very impressive, in that game McBride had 22 Pt's in a few rebounds, the Freshman has a lot of upside with her. Lauren is a good low post player, using her body very well and blocking out her defender's on offense and on defense. The youngster also has a ton of low post moves and is a excellent rebounder, look for her this summer on the AAU circuit.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH WINS THE GROUP I STATE'S

Marina Mabrey, Katelynn Flaherty, Coach (Mike Feerst)

This game started fast with two of  KateLynn Flaherty quick step back jump shots, but Bloomfield Tech got back in it by going inside to Javee Artis and a couple of key baskets by Ashunae Durant and Kyla Ramseur. Mabrey control the game with her patients, trying to set up other players, let alone rebounding and scoring 8 PT'S by the half. At the beginning of the 3rd, Tech came out and pressure the ball scoring 17 PT'S  in the that quarter mostly off of turnovers, Tech limited Flaherty to only 4 PT'S making it 34-32 Beach at the end of the 3rd. When the 4th quarter open KateLynn came out with four quick point's, and Mabrey's six put Beach ahead for good and they never looked back. K.Flaherty finished with 32, and M.Mabrey added 25.

KATELYNN FLAHERTY

Katelynn Flaherty (Point Pleasant Beach, NJ)

ONE on ONE: With one of the top Point Guards in NJ.

What do you think about being rank the #14 Guard Point in NJ?

It's good, It just shows that your hard work pays off, put absolutely I want to be #1 but if not that's good.

ESPN has you in the top 100 girl's in the country is that a good feeling?

Yes it definitely is, being in the top 100 shows you that if you work hard, you will be there, and I think I can compete with anyone in the 100 girl's.

How hard was the transition from Manasquan to Point Pleasant Beach?

It was hard because you went from a team with Michaela Mabrey who's at Notre Dame now and two other girl's who are going to be D1, to a team that was 4-14 the year before that we came in so we have to teach the girls how to turn the whole thing around,so It's been difficult.

Do you think you and your teammates can capture a title this year?

I think we can capture a Central Jersey Title this year and go onto possibly win Group 1, which would be a big deal. All because we already won the Group 1 States.

What are the goals for Point Pleasant Beach this year?

Well we are 24-1 right now so we are trying keep are loses very low, and than we want to win Central Jersey, and hopefully go on to win 2 more games and get the Group 1 States, and make it to the TOC.

What part of your game do you think you need to work on for 2014?

Being more of a leader, direct my team more, and being more patient offensively.
