GTHINGBASKETBALL WOULD LIKE TO PRESENT IT'S TOP FRESHMAN CLASS FOR 2018 THAT WE SEEN THIS YEAR IN NEW JERSEY.

Honesty Grayson

 Freshman Honesty Grayson,what hasn't she done so far this year. The Brick, NJ native has returned back to her old stomping grounds. She previously took her show on the road, leaving behind a talent group at Life Center Academy in Burlington, NJ. Grayson would land in Upper Marlboro, MD, playing for a National Power House Riverdale Baptist, where she received additional major recognition by playing in big High School Tournaments across the country. She's played in Hawaii, Washington, DC, New York, Maryland, California, and even the prestigious Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, Arizona. Honesty was a major player at Riverdale and I'm sure she will be truly missed there. Gthing has sat in rooms with high school and College Coaches, whom all say the same thing, she is a Pro in the making, because of her skill set, athleticism and determination to learn the game. Grayson was just recently inform this week, she has been invited to the 2015 USA U16 Trails in Colorado Springs, CO this May. Honesty will be attending to Blair Academy HS in NJ for school, so be on the lookout for her there in the 2016 season and just recently became a member of the New Jersey Sparks AAU basketball program.

Danielle Robinson - (Shabazz HS,NJ) The naturally raw Robinson had some big shoes to fill while attending Shabazz, they have been a Nationally Rank team for the last five years but there Big Guns all have graduated. Now Danielle will be the face of Tiger's and we think she will be a good candidate for the spot, Robinson average 12pt's a game. She went to the USA trails last year and she should be able to get a crack at it again this season we would like to think so.

Abbey Lawrence - (Newark Tech HS,NJ) Lawrence has been a big part of the Terriers first Sectional Title this year, she had a few games where she came up with big numbers. Abbey will be running the point next year so Coach Jefferson should be able to get everything he wants out of her.

Dara Mabrey - (Manasquan HS,NJ) Mabrey has come up big next to her big sister in the games that her teammates really needed her. Mabrey won the Shore Title and the TOC the pressure is on now that the older Mabrey is leaving for College. Dara has a nice short range and long range game she has been in some big games this year so she knows what it takes t0 win and Dara is definitely not scared of the pressure. 

Jahsyni Knight - (Rutgers Prep HS,NJ) The Prep Guard didn't play in the first few games of the season, but midway Thur her name was buzzing all across Jersey. Jahsyni played like a upper class man this year, very poised guard who can handle the pressure, cat like speed, uptempo, very good defender on the ball.








Molly Collins - (Donovan Catholic HS, NJ) Shooting Guard who played valuable minutes, can play either the 1 or 2 while playing. 


Imani Lewis - (Trenton Catholic HS,NJ) The 6'2 Freshman had a few games where she had a Double - Doubles, Lewis started off very slow but pick it up as the season went on.


Ryan Weise - (Allentown HS,NJ) Played well all season under her mother who is the Head Coach, Ryan never seem to rattle while playing for Coach, she had some great games this year including hitting a game winner.


Eve Crawford - (East New Brunswick HS,NJ) Didn't get that much like expected but when on the floor Crawford made the best out of it. Eve had a few breakouts put is definitely looking to do big next season.



Maryam Crawford - (East New Brunswick HS,NJ) Much like her twin sister she only seen the floor in spurts, but is also looking forward to next year. made the best out of it when she did see the floor and played well in a few games.



Mikayla Markham - (St.Rose HS,NJ) Was over shadowed by a great team, Phipps, Louro, and the bunch, Markham did her thing when she was to, very good defender with long arms, can shoot very well definitely the three ball.

MANASQUAN'S NEW JERSEY GATORADE PLAYER OF THE YEAR MARINA MABREY

MARINA MABREY, MANASQUAN,NJ "2015"

The last four years have been very fun to watch Marina Mabrey play the game of basketball, the New Jersey native is one the best to come out of NJ no matter who you ask if they were Black, White or Hispanic. This girl always played with a chip on her shoulder, Mabrey has left a mark that we will all remember, starting back to when she was a freshman on a good Manasquan team that featured her sister Michaela Mabrey who is now at Notre Dame and Katelynn Flaherty who is at the University Of Michigan, that year they won the T.O.C in New,Jersey. As a Sophomore she transferred to Point Pleasant Beach where she lead her team to there first State Title. Mabrey went back to Manasquan as a Junior where she lead the team to a State Championship and a chance to play in the T.O.C for the second time but they came up short against a tough Shabazz team, now entering her Senior season Marina has accomplished a lot, the first one was making the 17 and under United States Team, the next was being named to the McDonald's All American Team, Gatorade Player Of The Year and as we speak she has another crack at winning the Tournament Of Champion for 2015, Marina has scored more than 2,500 Pts, 750 Rebounds and 400 Assists and 300 Steals she will now pass the torch to her younger sister Dara who is a Freshman. Gthing would like to congratulate you with much more success.

After seeing the big stud play at the NYR in Paterson,NJ and getting the MVP I was well convinced that she was a baller, Gthing seen her last year in the Tournament Of Champs where Wilmoth went to work against Woodrow Wilson,NJ. Jordan displayed some of her low post moves and shooting ability, Jordan signed to Dayton University already as a Junior, so she actually has another year to capture the T.O.C if she doesn't get one in 2015.

GTHING HAS BEEN  KEEPING A EYE OUT ON THE GUARD AND FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY AND FEBRUARY SHE HAS BEEN BALLING OUT LIKE CRAZY. SHE IS AVERAGING IN DOUBLE FIGURES FOR BOTH MONTHS EXCEPT FOR ONE GAME.  WRIGHT HAS BEEN ATTACKING THE BASKET LIKE A MAN ON A MISSION, SHE WILL NEED TO KEEP BEING AGGRESSIVE LIKE THAT FOR THE VIKINGS TO GO FAR IN THE STATES.

SHANNON DOZIER (WASHINGTON,DC/2016)

Watch out know, it looks like Riverdale Baptist has some competition in the state of Maryland. After picking up some of Riverdale players from transfers National Christian Academy should make a good run this year. Shannon Dozier is a big time wing player who can shoot from anywhere on the court. She does it well in transition or just in a set play, which makes her team more dangerous, because when she is hot they are hot and that's when they can really spread the floor.

Profile: Strong small physical guard, loves to attack, few moves, bright future head of her, remember the name you should be hearing it if she stays on top of her game.

Profile: Athletic can play the three or four spot, her athlecticism allows her to guard bigger and smaller player. Croskey is a good rebounder, with a good motor.

JANEE'A SUMMERS (BOUND BROOK,N.J./2017)

So far this year, the Super Sophomore has been putting up incredible numbers for the Crusaders. The Bound Brook player is the true definition of a walking Double-Double, this year she has recorded 21 Double-Doubles, that's right folks 21, with two more games remaining on there schedule. This season she has scored more then 400 Points and 300 rebounds, Summers put up some what numbers as a freshman last year for her team, in one game alone this year she had 15 blocks to go along with one of her Double-Doubles. Janee'a doesn't get that much press because her school plays in a small Conference which is the Skyland Conference, in all reality she is to big for that Conference, if you ask Gthing, no disrespect thought. #Gthing Alum.

Profile: Howard is one of South Jersey rising, she had a big game this past weekend scoring 22 of her teams 30 points. Ta-Ta is being highly sorted after to play for a high school team next year. Still growing and learning about the game Howard has good upside, nice size guard, strong, can jump, very athletic, showed flashes of a mid-range game, just needs to work on left hand a little more.

After checking her stats from the last two years she has gotten better every year, she was nominated to play in the 2015 McDonald's All-American Game. Brittany will be following in the foot steps of her big sister Jasmine at the University of Quinnipiac. Great guard who should do fine at the next level, quick guard, can attack and loves to attack, good ball handling, nice stroke, good defender.

Johnson stature might not show that, but Gthing is here to let you know this girl is a Baller. Loves to attack, knows how to use her sizes and strength, uptempo flow, can create own shot,  can knock down the big shot, mid-range game, in and out transition, also Johnson can score in Spurts, or in bunches.

Some times to passive, has enough speed to get to the basket, needs to be more aggressive.

Rellah is the real deal, she is putting up major numbers in all categories, very athletic, finish at the rim, great rebounder, tremendous leaper, can play with her back towards the basket and face up, good passer, plays well in transition, mid-range shot, long range shot, just ask Blackman,TN who was rank #1 in the country at the time when Potter's House knock them off, Boothe had (37)Pt's, (22) rebounds.

Next year Mabrey will be following in the foot steps of her sister Michaela by going to the University of Notre Dame. The fighting Irish will be getting something special when she steps on the floor in the Irish uniform, GThing would like to say good luck on your journey.

Boogie Brozoski "2015" (Long Island Lutheran HS NY) - Boogie B is what they call her. The tough guard showed why she will be taking the show on the road to the Big Ten Conference. Brozoski will be playing for the University of Michigan and teaming up with NJ native and another Gthing Alum Katelynn Flaherty. She play with the Flu in this tournament and still put on a show knocking off one of NJ top teams Paterson Eastside (NJ).

Jess Louro "2015" (St.Rose,HS NJ) - The 5'10 combo guard seems to have that old saying of go hard or go home. She did that at the 2015 NYR in Paterson,NJ. Nice size in strength, attacks the basket, can play the 1 or 2, knows how to create her own shot, Jess will be heading to Middle Tennessee State.  

Taylor Byrne "2015" (Long Island Lutheran HS, NY) - Taylor is heading to Seton Hall University where she will impose her 6'2 frame along with her strength. This girl is one tough cookie, Byrne is a great rebounder , she can also score in the post and hit the mid-range jump shot and not to mention she love to mix it up, so watch out.

Nani Redford "2015" (Long Island Lutheran HS, NY) - This was the second time Gthing got a chance to see the crafty point guard play, the first time was on the playground in Brooklyn,NY in she plays the same way no matter if it's outdoors or indoors. Redford is going to the University of Hartford where she will be coach be Jennifer Rizzotti, Nani see the floor well, very crafty, loves to penetrate.

Theresa Ekhelar "2015" (Life Center Academy HS,NJ) - The Ohio St. Buckeye signee had a great game at the 2015 NYR, she finished with (12)Pt's and (10)rebounds against a state power house Potter House (FL). The 6'6 Life Center post player said that she is trying to work on her craft, so she could be ready for the next level.

Aliyah Jeune "2015" (Life Center Academy HS,NJ) - At the 2015 NYR against Potter House the Senior guard had (15) pts (12) assits showing all the recruiters that they should have came a little bit harder and if so she wouldn't be staying in state. The Rutgers bound guard will be going to play along side her big sister, good recruit coach Stringer, shore would have been nice to see you in attendance.

  

What did Gthing Learn at the 2015 New Year's Resolutions Tournament held by the NJ Sparks

We learned that Girl's go has hard as Boy's.
There where 49 teams from 8 different states, 17 division 1 colleges and loads of talent.
Some of the seniors came to the tournament red hot especially Kat Phipps the St. Rose Sr. point guard who scored a tournament record of 42 points.

Erin Storck -"2015" (Long Island Lutheran HS,NY) (MVP) - Erin had a good shooting night, the combo guard will be taking that to Sacred Heart University next season. She is a all around good player who see's the floor very well and Erin knows where she is suppose to be when on the floor. Lets see if the Lady Crusaders will be able to fill the void when she is gone.

Samantha Fuehring -"2015" (Immaculate Conception HS,NJ) (MVP) - The Louisville bound wing or guard can do it all. She is a true baller and should do fine at the next level. When Gthing was able to talk to her I ask Sam why South Carolina she said the they make you feel at home there and that her old New,Jersey Sparks Teammate Myisha Hines-Allen was definitely a big influence.

Re'Jean Martin -"2015" (Potter House HS,FL) (MVP) - The unsigned Senior guard showed some of the college Scouts that she was D1 material. Coach has her playing good basketball right now, Martin is a scrappy player who loves to play up tempo on both sides of the ball, Re'Jean compensates her height with playing aggressively on offense and defensive.

Kyirah English -"2015" (East Orange Campus HS,NJ) (MVP) - The scoring guard is what she is and what she does. English was droppin in buckets at the NYR 2015 this past weekend English lead her team with a game high of (19) Pt's scoring 11 of those in the first half. She is tremendous defender, English has already committed to Bucknell University with her in a few more good recruits Bucknell and English should be on the map if you ask me.

De'Nisha Swain -"2015" (Potter House HS,FL)(MVP) - Another one of Potter House (FL) unsigned point guards put in work with (24)Pt's in Potter House last game in New,Jersey. Swain plays very hard, she has a nice shot in can knock down the mid-range shot. likes to play fast, De'Nisha may have to work on creating her own shot if she is planning on going to the next level.

Profile: Blackwell has been carrying her team on her back so far this year, now that the Stefanski's sisters left to graduation Fatimah has been shining in her own right. The 6'4 post player is a walking double-double, she runs the floor well, good in transition, low post moves,good with back towards basket, needs to finish a little bit better when on the block.

Profile: The Jr guard has been putting up some numbers this season thus far. She has well over 800 Pts going into this season and she guarantee Gthing that she would well surpass the 1000 mark, the 5'8 guard has upside but doesn't realize it yet. Strong, can handle ball, rebounds, leads team in all categories, avg (18)pts a game.

Profile: After Finally going to see her play now Gthing knows what all the hype is about, Lauren is a true baller with a lot of skills. She has great ball handling skills, even against a box in 1, trap, diamond in 1, Holden will play through it. Lauren has a good jump shot, she knocks down the three every now in then, quick release in the lane, nice floater, good passer, can create her own shot, gets everyone involved in flow of the game. Lauren is leading New,Jersey in scoring and she has committed to Fordham, she done that as a junior.

Newark Tech of (NJ)

Newark Tech came through South Jersey with there foot all the way down on the gas pedal. They took home the Championship on Tuesday by beating Delran. They opened the Tournament with winning a nail biter against Haddonfield (36)-(35), but they showed in proved on Tuesday taking the Chip back up North, I guess the 2 hour ride was well worth the trip.  Freshman point guard Abbey Lawrence was name MVP she scored (18)pts and went 4/6 from (3)pt range.

Profile: A mere image of her sister (Nyasia) they play almost just alike. Strong guard who likes to penetrate through traffic, Anderson is a great rebounder, she recorded 11 of them in there first game against Haddonfield in the tournament. Dayjah can create her own shot and can create separation between herself in the defender.

Profile: The 6'2 Wing/Post player is the core of the team, Johnson runs the floor well and she is a great defender who is very under size in the post. Nicole plays with a big heart, she can hit the mid range jump shot but doesn't look for that shot enough.
